This year’s conference was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from June 12-16, 2011. Jacobs’ poster was selected out of 140 posters in total. This is the first year that CSTE recognized the work of poster presenters by giving an outstanding poster award. This year marks a shift in the emphasis on Informatics in the field of public health for CSTE attendees. This is noted by the first plenary session focusing on informatics and by the increase in the number of break out sessions with the topic of informatics as well as attendance to these sessions. More than 1,000 public health epidemiologists from across the country, as well as students and others interested in the field of public health attend the CSTE conference. Jacobs’ research interests lie in Decision Support and Standards. He plans to graduate in 2015 with a PhD.
