Dr. Bruce Bray has received a contract through the Utah Department of Health (UDOH) for the Utah IC3 Beacon Community by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.
Utah was named one of 17 Beacon Communities. Dr. Bray's award in the amount of $200,000 runs from May 1, 2010 through March 31, 2012 and focuses on developing a tool to detect and transmit reportable events from the Utah cHIE to UDOH, using appropriate HL7 messaging standards and developing a process to retrieve knowledge content from an external public health knowledge base for use in the reportable event detection tool. Bray works in collaboration with the UDOH, Intermountain Health Care, Central Utah Clinics and UHIN.
