BMI Receives Grant to Advance Health IT

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) announced three new grant programs that awarded a total of $38 million to 20 entities to advance the use of health IT. One of the awards is the Advanced Interoperable Health Information Technology Services to Support Health Information Exchange that focuses on expanding the adoption of health information exchange technology, tools and services. The two-year cooperative agreement program dispersed funding among 12 states or state-designated entities.

The Utah Health Information Network (UHIN) is one of the Health Information Exchange’s (HIE) that will be funded by this award. The grant will be used for advanced HIE projects. Our Biomedical Informatics group leads two of the funded projects: Poison Control Center (Mollie Cummins and Guilherme Del Fiol), and Pediatric Patient Summary (Chuck Norlin and Guilherme Del Fiol).
