Dr. Wendy W. Chapman Has Accepted a New Position

Wendy W. Chapman, PhD, has accepted a position as the Associate Dean for Digital Health and Informatics and a Director of a new Centre for Clinical and Public Health Informatics at the University of Melbourne in Australia. Dr. Chapman is excited about the professional opportunities in Melbourne as well as the adventures her family is about to embark on!

Dr. Chapman has very close ties to the University of Utah and this department. She earned her PhD in our department and has now served almost six years as the chair. Dr. Chapman’s tenure in our department has been marked by dedication and accomplishment. She was in the inaugural group of six faculty scholars to receive a Jon M. Huntsman Presidential Chair. She is also an elected fellow of the National Academy of Medicine and will continue to serve on the NIH Advisory Committee to the Director.

Some of her many contributions to the department are:

  • A BMI presence on the University’s Asia Campus in Korea
  • A thriving master’s program
  • A focused and collaborative departmental research direction
  • New partnerships with the health system and HCI
  • A burgeoning Industry Advisory Board.

The faculty and staff will miss her enthusiasm and energy that she brought to the many new initiatives that were created in the department.
