Abundant research opportunities focusing on federated search, medical decision support, public health surveillance, and grid computing, to name a few, are supported in conjunction with The University of Utah Center for Translational and Clinical Science, renewed funding for a Center of Excellence in Public Health Informatics and a highly competitive National Library of Medicine Training Grant.
Real-world clinical informatics research is ongoing at several of our collaborating institutions: Intermountain Healthcare, home of the renown HELP electronic medical record, University of Utah Health, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Salt Lake City VA Medical Center, and the Utah Department of Health.
This grant funds three postdoctoral positions limited to US citizens or green card holders.
We are looking for postdoctoral trainees with a doctorate in a health-related field (MD, PhD, PharmD, or other healthcare doctorate). Position available in January 2021. Trainees in this category are strongly encouraged to pursue Biomedical Informatics postdoctoral training, leading to a degree (Masters or PhD).
The position is funded for up to 3 years. Stipend support rates can be found on the NLM website.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct projects independently, maintains records and databases
- Provide mentorship and supervise the work of graduate students and provide expert opinion and guidance on data analysis and experimental design.
- Participate and present research outputs in group meetings, collaborative meetings, project retreats and seminars. Present at national and international conferences
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals, not responsible for generating grant funds
- May participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author.
