Garzon Research Lab

Garzon’s research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of leukemia, particularly acute myeloid leukemia, to provide more effective treatments.

Ramiro Garzon, MD

Leibold Research Lab

The Leibold Lab is interested in how eukaryotic cells sense and respond to iron and how dysregulation of iron metabolism leads to disease.

A Patel Research Lab

The A Patel Research Lab focuses on understanding cell signaling in myeloid leukemias and the molecular mechanisms governing drug resistance to targeted agents in these diseases. Her laboratory-based research complements her clinical practice by informing novel treatment strategies for implementation in early-phase clinical trials - with the goal of rapidly translating relevant preclinical findings and improving outcomes for leukemia patients.

Ami B. Patel, MD

Prchal Research Lab

The Prchal Lab focuses to elucidate the molecular basis of hematological diseases to discover their either somatic or germline underlying mutations and then determine the functions of the mutations.

Josef T. Prchal, MD

Rondina Research Lab

Dr. Rondina's laboratory focuses on discovering how inflammation alters gene expression in platelets and their progenitor cells, megakaryocytes.

Matthew T. Rondina, MD, MS

Rowley Research Lab

We seek to understand how platelets and megakaryocytes influence human health and disease. We merge clinical discovery with cutting edge molecular, cellular, in vivo, and computational approaches to define mechanisms of platelet function, and uncover new avenues for platelet diagnostics and therapeutics.

Song Research Lab

My current research focuses on the evolutionary adaptation of the Andean Aymara to high-altitude hypoxia. This includes the discovery of NFKB1 variants that have evolved selectively in the Aymara population and their association with high hemoglobin levels. I am also investigating the role of HIF and iron deficiency in thrombosis in MPNs to to identify novel therapeutic targets.
