Medicine-Geriatrics Pathway
This is a 4-year track that fulfills internal medicine categorical training and clinical geriatric fellowship requirements. Upon completion, individuals are board eligible in both IM and Geriatrics.
During the 1st three IM training years, continuity in the geriatric clinic and long-term care setting is built into the schedule. During the 4th year of geriatric fellowship, time is protected for leadership development training and scholarly activity while fellows complete geriatric fellowship requirements. Trainees also participate in geriatric conferences and didactics throughout the 4 years. A geriatric faculty member is assigned as a mentor at the beginning of training. There is an explicit commitment to have individuals in this track feel welcomed and be a part of the geriatrics division from the outset of intern year.
