David Affleck, M.D. Dr. Affleck is a cardiothoracic surgeon at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is married and has 4 children. Matthew Fronk Harris, M.D. Dr. Harris is board certified from the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is happily married with 6 children, 3 of whom are triplets. Brett Heath, M.D. Dr. Heath practices family medicine in Hamilton, Montana. He has 4 children. He is an avid fly fisherman, hunter and skier. Brian Jackson, M.D. Dr. Jackson is a clinical pathologist at ARUP Laboratories in Salt Lake City, Utah. Heather Major, M.D. Dr. Major is married to her medical school classmate, Scott Major, who practices otolaryngology in Ogden, Utah. Dr. Heather Major practices medicine at the Ogden Women's Center, and just won the James Scott Award, for being the community's outstanding OB/GYN. They have 3 children. Lisa Morgan, M.D. Dr. Morgan is married to Brian Canty and resides in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is currently taking some much need time off to spend with their five year old son, Luke. Todd Murdock, M.D. Dr. Murdock resides in Missoula, Montana and practices pediatric ophthalmology at Rocky Mountain Eye Center. James Pingree, M.D. James Pingree, M.D. resides in Salt Lake City, Utah and practices Neurosurgery at St. Mark's Hospital. Holly Casey Wall, M.D. Dr. Wall has been in private practice with her husband and father-in-law for 10 years. Together they have two sons, Trace and Casey. Dr. Wall and her family reside in Shreveport, Louisiana and she encourages all her classmates to call anytime they make their way down South! Kevin Gardner, M.D. Dr. Gardner owns a private practice, Wasatch Peak Family Practice, which expanded from 3,000 sq. ft. to over 8,000 sq. ft., offering rooms for 120 providers. It is the only family practice that still admits to Davis Hospital and serves as a back-up for all other hospitals. He and his wife of 25 years have two children. Todd Harris, M.D. Dr. Harris lives in Idaho Falls, ID and practices anesthesiology at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Anne M. Hutchinson, M.D. Dr. Hutchinson worked in private practice in Boston Massachusetts after her residency. In 2003 she joined a practice in South Ogden and she has recently accepted a faculty position at the McKay-Dee Family Medicine Residency Program. Her son, Gabriel, was born in May of 2006. David C. Larsen, M.D. Dr. Larsen reports from Holladay, UT that he finally got married and is now the proud parents of three children. He practices family medicine at the Holladay Family Practice Clinic. Kirk Leininger, M.D. Dr. Leininger practices medicine at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. He has served as a medical volunteer for Healing Hands for Haiti and for the Deaf Olympics, hosted in Salt Lake City in 2007. Jennifer Peters, M.D. Dr. Peters currently practices in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where she helped establish a successful hospitalist practice at a community hospital. Since it was started in 2000, the practice has grown from two practitioners to ten and they are still growing. She likes to spend time with her family sailing and driving around the coast of New England. Richard Allen, M.D. Dr. Allen practiced Family Medicine for some years in rural Canada. He then went back to school for his MPH and was offered a faculty job at St. Mark’s Family Residency where he became the Program Director in 2011. He also practices home health and hospice medicine. He has six girls (three born during medical school) who keep things hopping outside of work. Thomas Lloyd Gardner, M.D. Dr. Gardner lives in Lindon, Utah with his wife Malisalee and enjoys spending time and creating memories with his four children: Calee, Josh, Brooklyn, and Breesa. Alisa Knowlton, M.D. Dr. Knowlton has been working at the Intermountain Bountiful Health Center since 2000, working three days a week as a Family Physician. She enjoys delivering babies, taking care of families, and working with 3rd and 4th year medical students during their clerkships. She and her husband, Tyler, have two children. Tara Stewart, M.D. Dr. Stewart works part-time as a consulting Dermatologist at the Alamance Skin Center. She and her husband Eric live in North Carolina with their five children: Sophia, Grant, Eliza, Peter, and Calvin. She states that she “enjoys practicing dermatology and couldn’t be more satisfied with her profession.” Raphael Allred, M.D. Dr. Allred opened her own clinic in 2007, which she says is scary and fun. She is married and they have one daughter, Ryan. Carmen Arkansas Nations, M.D. Dr. Nations moved home and is now a partner in a pediatrics group that serves the western counties of North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian Reservation. She also serves on the board of directors for the Western North Carolina Down Syndrome Alliance. She is married with a 2-year-old daughter and two step daughters. Trena Bonde, M.D. Dr. Bonde is a practicing family medicine physician. She currently lives and works in Fort Harrison, Montana. Her practice is located at the VA Hospital, Fort Harrison. Matthew Brown, M.D. Dr. Brown has a family practice at the Intermountain Health Care North Orem Clinic. He is enjoying medicine and his happily married with three sons and three daughters. Glenn S. Buchanan, M.D. Dr. Buchanan is a practicing hematologist/oncologist at the Williamette Valley Cancer Center in Eugene, Oregon. He has three daughters and has run seven marathons. Thomas Clark, M.D. Dr. Clark served for eight years in the Navy including four deployments and three years as a flight surgeon, which he says was, "an excuse to not work quite as much and get paid to fly a jet." After working at the Instacare in Logan, Utah, Dr. Clark is now back to practicing family medicine. He and his wife, Tammie, have two children: Zyden, 12; and Emilia, 9. He still plays soccer and is on the ski patrol at Beaver Mountain. Tara Cornaby, M.D. Dr. Cornaby is a practicing anesthesiologist at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, California. She serves as the anesthesia scheduler for Stanford's Ambulatory Surgery Center. She is also a clinical assistant professor anesthesia, an assistant residency director and a member of the Clinical Competency Committee, Resident Selection Committee and Education Committee at Stanford Hospital. Dr. Cornaby is married and has three sons. Gina Cox, M.D. Dr. Cox completed her family practice residency in Portland, Oregon in 2001. Afterward she joined the Foothill Family Clinic in Salt Lake City where she practices the full spectrum of family medicine, including obstetrics. She and her husband, Graeme, have been married for 12 years. They have a son, Rufus, who was born in 2007. In their spare time they like to snowboard, watch baseball, and watch Rufus grow and explore. Simon Durcan, M.D. Dr. Durcan is a practicing pediatric anesthesiologist working at Pediatric Anesthesiologists, Inc. in Salt Lake City. He completed his residency in anesthesiology in 2002, and a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship in 2003. Kent Gardner, M.D. After completing a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Gardner moved to St. George, Utah to practice medicine and play a little golf. In 2007 he received the top score in the nation on the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Certification Exam. Amazingly, my wife Alyce is still married to me despite going through all of that. He has four great children: Jake, 13; Josh, 10; Katie, 6; and William 11 months. Janet W. Grissom, M.D., PhD. Dr. Grissom is a psychiatrist and acting medical director of North Valley Mental Health in Salt Lake City. She also practices at International Health Care Wasatch Center for Counseling and LDS Hospital. Dr. Grissom is a world-class Olympic pin collector and trader; she volunteered in doping control during the Salt Lake 2002 Games. She was invited by the International Olympic Committee to attend a World Olympic Collector Faire in Beijing in 2007. She and her husband, Chuck, have been married for 26 years and have a beautiful 9-year-old daughter, Cynthia. Chris Jones, M.D. Dr. Jones is a practicing internal medicine physician at Cottonwood Internal Medicine in Murray, Utah. His most significant achievement, he says, is that he has a happy life. He is also adjunct clinical faculty at the University of Utah School of Medicine, and he and his wife are pregnant with their fifth child. Michael R. Martineau, M.D. Dr. Martineau is a practicing dermatologist at Tanner Clinic in Layton, Utah. He completed his dermatology residency at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. He also completed an internship at LDS Hospital. Dr. Martineau and his wife have five children and enjoy spending our time at Bear Lake, Lake Powell, Hawaii, and California. They have fun skiing, waterskiing and gardening. Sarah Maulden, M.D. Dr. Maulden finished her fellowship in Medical Informatics at the U of U in 2004 and is currently working part-time at the Salt Lake VA, doing a nice combination of informatics and seeing neurology patients. She says the best part of the past five years was the adoption of a daughter and son from Korea in 2005 and 2006. She reports they are energetic, loads of fun, and helps her see life through a new set of eyes. Dan Parker, M.D. Dr. Parker is a practicing radiologist with the Logan Radiology Group at Logan Region Hospital in Utah. After spending time in Dallas and Denver, Dr. Parkers says it was nice to come back to Utah. He lives in Logan and loves it. He and his wife have 5 daughters. R. Richard Rasmussen, M.D. Dr. Rasmussen has a general surgery practice with Craig Cook, also from the class of 1998. Dr. Rasmussen enjoys laparoscopy. He and his wife have five children, ages 13 to 11/2. Michael ‘Lee' Thorpe, M.D. Dr. Thorpe completed his internship in the Navy and then was forward deployed oversees. He returned after three years to family practice, but soon discovered that his training had better developed him into an ER provider. He has been working for several emergency rooms in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska since 2003. Locum Tenens work fills in his need/enjoyment for travel. He has six children, five boys and one girl. He continues to practice/teach karate, shoot, ride motorcycles, read, and enjoy his life and lifestyle. Audra Winder, M.D. Dr. Winder completed her fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine in 2004. Her husband, Tom, is now five years cancer-free, following high-dose IL-2 for stage 3 renal cell carcinoma. Their daughter, Carly, is two and a half. Thomas Higginbotham, M.D. Dr. Higginbotham is a practicing orthopedic surgeon at Canyon View Orthopedics in Logan, Utah. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine in 2005. Gloria Jinglon Tong, M.D. Dr. Tong is a practicing psychiatrist in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. After medical school, Dr. Tong finished her internship and a residency in adult psychiatry at the University of Utah. After a few years of general practice, Dr. Tong completed a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego. She is now board certified and practicing in rural Northern Minnesota. Dr. Tong has toured around the world, including Thailand, Taiwan, and Canada. Karen M. Radley, M.D. Dr. Radley is a practicing family medicine physician in Price, Utah. She does full spectrum family medicine including hospital duties. She has also opened a second business, A Better You Medical Spa. She has three children and they love being outdoors. Chad McCormick, M.D. Dr. McCormick is a practicing otolaryngologist at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He has twin girls, born in 2006. William B. Slayton, M.D. Fellow Dr. Slayton, who is a children’s oncologist and an associate professor of pediatrics in the University of Florida College of Medicine was recently named chief of the division of pediatric hematology and oncology after serving as the interim chair since 2008. Dr. Slayton completed a research fellowship in pediatrics hematology and oncology focused on stem cell biology and leukemia at the University of Utah in 1999. He specializes in treating and studying high-risk forms of leukemia.
