John Ryan, MD Elected to the School of Medicine Curriculum Committee

Recently, John Ryan, MD (Cardiovascular Medicine) was elected to serve on the School of Medicine Curriculum Committee. Committee members are responsible for creating, overseeing, and managing the medical student education program. Comprised of faculty and students, the committee sets out to deliver and develop high-quality medical student education at the University of Utah. The Curriculum Committee works to:

  • define the objectives, competencies, and professional attributes for medical to students to attain during medical school
  • ensure a coordinated and coherent curriculum that acknowledges new educational opportunities and identifies opportunities to implement innovative teaching methods
  • assist with faculty development and mentorship
  • create educational policies that advance the curriculum while meeting compliance standards

Dr. Ryan works as a cardiologist and is an assistant professor with the Department of Internal Medicine. He is recognized as an internationally renowned specialist in pulmonary hypertension and is the Director of the University of Utah Pulmonary Hypertension Center. He has also been awarded the Department of Family Medicine Outstanding Preceptor of the Year Award and continues to be involved in medical education at the University of Utah.

With his extensive experience and training, Dr. Ryan will be a valuable and dedicated member of the Curriculum Committee.
