Corrine Welt Appointed as Chief of Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism & Diabetes

The Department of Internal Medicine is pleased to announce that , has accepted the position of Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes. Dr. Welt has diligently served her division as Interim Chief since September 2017, and has established herself as an inspiring leader with a fierce dedication to the mission of our organization. Dr. Welt received her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, and did her residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident at the West Roxbury VA. She was an Endocrine fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she developed her NIH funded research program in reproductive endocrinology. Upon joining the University of Utah and Department of Internal Medicine in 2014, she continued her research efforts in trying to uncover genetic risk for infertility and in understanding the genotype/phenotype relationship between genetic factors resulting in primary ovarian insufficiency and polycystic ovary syndrome.As Interim Chief, she continues to support the academic mission in promoting the research, education and clinical missions. These efforts include support of the Diabetes One-Day Education and Care Program and The Diabetes Complications Program, which aim to provide innovative care to individuals living with diabetes. The Department has full confidence that Dr. Welt will continue to advance the research and outreach efforts that she has already supported during her time in her interim role.
