Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) Program for Benign Tumors

The Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes and Huntsman Cancer Institute would like to introduce the newly established radio-frequency ablation (RFA) program for the treatment of thyroid tumors. RFA is a minimally invasive alternative therapy to surgery for in-situ destruction of benign thyroid nodules and some thyroid carcinomas. 

Dr. Dev Abraham will be directing this program after having received training at the Asan Medical Center in Seoul, South Korea, under the guidance of Dr. Jung Hwan BaekDr. Baek, a leading authority in this field, refined the application of RFA for thyroid tumors. This outpatient procedure is conducted under local anesthesia in lieu of surgery.
