Dr. Adi Gundlapalli joins CDC The Division of Epidemiology wishes Adi Gundlapalli, MD, PhD, well in his new position as the Chief Public Health Informatics Officer for the Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Gundlapalli is board certified in Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, and Clinical Informatics. Since joining the Department of Internal Medicine in 2002, he has contributed significantly to clinical care, research, and mentorship at University of Utah School of Medicine and nationally, garnering numerous awards and recognitions. He most recently served as Medical Director, Employee Health/Work Wellness, University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics, and as Chief Health Informatics Officer in the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System. Dr. Gundlapalli’s research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and others. Dr. Gundlapalli applies public health informatics to the study of emerging communicable disease, homelessness, and disease course. He has mentored many medical students, internal medicine and pathology residents, infectious diseases and immunology fellows, PhD students, and postdoctoral fellows. His many mentees appreciate his kindness, supportive mentorship, and exemplary leadership.
