PARCKA Research Analyst Ary Bryan and Director of Research Dr. Jerry Cochran recently published the chapter “The Opioid Crisis” in the Encyclopedia of Social Work! This chapter was completed with the help of co-authors Dr. Valerie Hruschak with Harvard Medical School, Dr. Daniel Rosen with the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, and Dr. Cory Dennis with Brigham Young University School of Social Work. This chapter includes information on the biological, psychological and social components of opioid used disorder, and the role social workers and other health care providers can take in combatting the current opioid epidemic in the United States.
