Dr. Kathryn Peterson Awarded National Institute of Health Consortium Grant

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition congratulates Dr. Kathryn Peterson, MD, MSCI, Associate Professor of Medicine, on her National Institute of Health consortium grant for her project, “Consortium of Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease.”

The central aim of this study is to conduct a proof of principle trial testing the hypothesis that dupilumab will be safe and effective for reducing eosinophilia and a Th2 gene profile in eosinophilic gastritis. This proof-of-principle study aims to provide mechanistic evidence that type 2 immunity is essential in the pathogenesis of eosinophilic esophagitis. This study will focus on histological and molecular endpoints through a randomized placebo controlled trial in a small number of adults with EG.
