A Legacy of Care: Mancini Family Honors Dr. Barry Stults
Janet and Vincent Mancini have known Barry M. Stults, MD, for years. He was first recommended by one of their close friends who is a physician at Utah Health. The Mancini’s needed a new internist and hoped to find someone who could help manage their care as they aged. This physician was a patient of Dr. Stults and commented on the high-quality care he personally enjoyed.
Over the years, the Mancini’s have been incredibly grateful for the consummate care they have received. Dr. Stults has been the central hub in their care and has been thoroughly involved in their health journey. He spent as much time with them as necessary to ensure that everything was addressed and clearly communicated. Dr. Stults made them feel like they were his top priority. However, the Mancini’s recognize that Dr. Stults provides the same high-level touch for all his patients. Dr. Stults remained instrumental in their care continuum up until Vincent passed away earlier this year.
To honor Dr. Stults and their relationship, Mrs. Mancini has established the Vincent P. and Janet Mancini Endowed Chair in Honor of Barry M. Stults, MD in the Division of General Internal Medicine. The purpose of this chair is to ensure that Dr. Stults’ legacy of compassionate patient care, with careful attention to the needs of every individual patient, will remain a hallmark of the Division of General Internal Medicine. This chair will allow the chairholder protected time to focus on the needs of their patients, safeguard their ability to provide the highest possible level of care to each and every patient, and help instill to trainees the same qualities that Dr. Stults imbued throughout his career.
For more than ten years, the Mancini’s have provided annual support to the division to support improvements in patient quality. During this time, Mancini Quality Fellows in the Division have helped deliver new projects and protocols throughout the Division and across Utah Health to help ensure better patient outcomes. The Division of General Medicine is indebted to Vincent and Janet Mancini for their most generous contributions to improving patient care at the University of Utah Medical Center over the years. This endowed chair now serves as the capstone on a long-time grateful patient relationship between the Mancini’s and the Division of General Internal Medicine.
