Congratulations to General Internal Medicine Hospitalist and Chief Medical Quality Officer (CMQO), Robert Pendleton, MD, FACP. The American College of Physicians (ACP) has recognized his extraordinary service in medicine with an advancement to ACP Master. Physicians awarded ACP Mastership are nominated by their peers, and then vetted through an awards committee. The award committee reviews the physician's overall excellence, significance in contributions to medicine, as well as their involvement in the ACP. Masters are nominated for their personal character, positions of honor, contributions toward furthering the mission of the ACP, eminence in practice or in medical research, or other attainments in science of in the art of medicine. Dr. Robert C. Pendleton is the Chief Medical Quality Officer of University of Utah Health and is professor of internal medicine (clinical) at the University of Utah School of Medicine. After completing residency training in internal medicine in 2000, Dr. Pendleton co-founded a hospitalist program focused on clinical excellence and educating the next generation and developed an integrated thrombosis service focused on improving care and advancing knowledge for patients with thrombotic disorders. Since 2012, he has served as U of U Health’s first Chief Medical Quality Officer helping to lead U of U Health’s transformation efforts to be a national leader in the delivery of high value care encompassing quality, safety, patient experience, and clinical resource optimization.
