Congratulations to Mike Deininger, MD, PhD, for his appointment as Director of the Huntsman Center of Excellence in Hematological Malignancies and Hematology. This Center supported by investments from the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pathology, the Senior Vice President for Health Sciences, and HCI will enable vigorous recruitment of additional faculty and will support research infrastructure to advance translational research and clinical care in this critical area. HCI’s Centers of Excellence serve as hubs for multidisciplinary cancer care with full integration of clinical care, education, and research, including investigator-initiated clinical trials and other patient-oriented research designed to reduce morbidity and mortality. Dr. Deininger will continue to serve as Chief of the Division of Hematology and Hematological Malignancies in the Department of Internal Medicine.
