The Department of Internal Medicine extends its congratulations to Dr. Michael Deininger, MD, PhD, professor and chief of the Division of Hematology and Hematologic Malignancies. Dr. Deininger was chosen as the recipient of the prestigious 2019 Rowley Prize awarded by the International Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Foundation (iCMLf). The Rowley Prize recognizes outstanding contributions to the understanding of the biology of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Dr. Deininger joins an elite group of past Rowley Award recipients, including Dr. Brian Druker (2009), Dr. Moshe Talpaz (2010), Dr. John Goldman (2011), Dr. George Q Daley (2012), Dr. Connie Eaves (2013), Dr. Owen Witte (2014), Dr. Rick Van Etten (2015), Professors John Groffen and Nora Heisterkamp (2016), Professor Tessa Holyoake (2017) and Dr. Nick Cross (2018). Dr. Deininger's nomination was sought from throughout the CML commnity and confirmed by all previous award winners. Dr. Deininger will be presented the 2019 Rowley Medal at the 2019 John Goldman International CML Conference in Bordeaux, France on September 12, 2019 through September 15, 2019.
