Hematology Research Symposium at Deer Valley


The Division of Hematology and Hematological Malignancies will hold a research Symposium at Deer Valley on June 7 and 8, 2019. The major goals of the Symposium are to promote the many strengths of Hematologic research at the University of Utah and to foster interactions with other internal and external research groups. The Symposium will feature 7 external speakers and 7 internal speakers from hematology, human genetics, pathology, and biochemistry.

External Speakers:

Dr. Jeff Tyner, Oregon Health Sciences Center: Functional genomics as a tool to drive personalized medicine
          
Dr. Ilaria Iacobucci, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital: Genomic subtyping and therapeutic targeting of acute
          erythroleukemia

Dr. Dan Starczynowski, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital: Spliceosome gene mutations and induce organic IRAK4
          isoforms and activate innate immune pathways in myeloid malignancies

Dr. Brian Betts, Hematology, Oncology & Transplantation, University of Minnesota: Dendritic cell ER stress response
          as a therapeutic target to prevent GVHD

Dr. Loretta Nastoupil, MD Anderson Cancer Center: Evolving treatment strategies in follicular lymphoma

Dr. Siddharta Jaiswal, Stanford University: Clonal hematopoiesis in human aging and disease

Dr. Hans-Guido Wendal, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Exploring new cancer targets
