Congratulations to Dr. Mike Deininger for his award of a grant from the National Institutes of Health. The grant is focused on Targeting the Metabolic Regulator SIRT5 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia. His research that led to this grant award demonstrated that cell survival for cells from patients with acute myeloid leukemia is dependent on the SIRT5 protein. His research group now seeks to develop inhibitors of SIRT5 as a candidate therapeutic option.
