The National Kidney Foundation of Utah and Idaho just wrapped up its annual meeting in Salt Lake City. Congratulations to Bellamkonda Kishore, MD; Marcus Pezzolesi, PhD; Nirupama Ramkumar, MD; and Harry Senekjian, MD who were recognized for their exceptional work in the areas of medical advancement, research, and promoting the mission of the NKF.
Bellamkonda Kishore, MD and Nirupama Ramkumar, MD from the Division of Nephrology attended the event.
During the annual meeting, Dr. Kishore was recognized for his work to improve the quality of life for kidney patients. He invented a method for treating or preventing diet-induced obesity in a subject with acquired nephrogenic diabetes insipidus. He also received a patent for his project “Methods and Composition for Treating Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus."
The NKF also handed out the 2017/18 NKF Annual Report of Utah and Idaho, in which several faculty from the Division of Nephrology were recognized.
Marcus Pezzolesi, PhD and Nirupuma Ramkumar, MD were awarded research grants aimed to find new methods of disease prevention and treatment.
- Pezzolesi’s “Accelerating Gene Discovery in Diabetic Kidney Disease: An Integrated, ‘Big Data’ Approach.”
- Ramkumar’s “Functional Role of Collecting Duct Prorenin Receptor in Early Diabetic Nephrology.”
Harry Senekjian, MD was recognized for receiving the 2018 Medical Advisory Board Distinguished Service Award at the 2018 NFK Spring Clinical Meetings in Texas for educational, scientific, and community service.
