Dr. Srinivasan Beddhu Appointed as Clinical Research Medical Director

Dr. Srinivasan Beddhu, Professor of Internal Medicine, has been appointed as the Clinical Research Medical Director for the Department of Internal Medicine and will officially start in this capacity on March 1, 2020.

The Clinical Research Medical Director is a new position created to increase support to the department’s clinical research community. In this position, Dr. Beddhu will advise department leadership on clinical research strategic planning. He will serve as a resource to DOIM faculty and trainees who are interested in participating in clinical research, including clinical trials, epidemiology, and other translational research, and help them understand and navigate the regulations, requirements and obtain research support services where needed.

Dr. Beddhu is an experienced and nationally renowned clinical researcher in the Nephrology field. He has received funding from the NIH for clinical research and randomized trials for many years. He has also participated in many pharmaceutical trials as site principal investigator. He frequently participates in NIH study sections either as a chair or member. He had been an active member of the NIH-sponsored SPRINT trial and is the lead-author of many high-impact articles from this trial and other projects.
