Dr. Yufeng Huang Awarded 5-Year R01 from National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)

Congratulations to Dr. Yufeng Huang (Research Associate Professor, Nephrology)! Her R01 "Novel therapeutic strategy for renal fibrosis by targeting RNA-binding protein HuR" was funded for 5 years at $1,781,000 by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) within the National Institute of Health (NIH).

This R01 proposes to use the newly developed small molecule KH-3 to evaluate HuR-targeted therapeutics for inhibition of renal inflammation and subsequent renal fibrosis by using animal models that resemble chronic kidney disease (CKD) in many ways seen in human patients. Successfully carried out, these results will serve as an important basis for translation into the clinical setting with improved potential for patient care for those living with, or at the risk of, progressive CKD.
