Sean Callahan, MD

Sean recieved his MD from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed a residency at the University of Michigan before returning to the University of Virginia Health System where he completed a fellowship and served as Chief Fellow in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. His clinical interest is interstitial lung disease, with a particular focus on new therapies and coordination of care for patients with complex lung diseases.

He is originally from a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. Interesting things: my wife and I are expecting our first child in October (the cross-country drive to Utah was full of bathroom breaks). I've also built a sweet CrossFit gym in my garage.

John Gerstenberger, MD

John recieved his MD from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Colorado.

Aidin Iravani, MD

Aidin recieved his MD from the First Pavlov State Medical University in St. Petersburg, Russia. He completed his residency at the Forest Hills Hospital in New York. He completed fellowships in Pulmonary and Critical Medicine and Interventional Pulmonology at the University of Utah.

Rachel Kroencke, MD

Rachel is orginally from Madison, Wisconsin where she received her MD from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2015. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency here at the University of Utah, and now works at Madsen Internal Medicine. She is also licensed as a Wilderness Emergency Medicine Techinician through the Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS. 

She enjoys spending time in the outdoors and trying out new baking projects.

Livia is from Brazil, where she was a systems analyst for 20 years. When she moved to the USA, she decided to change her career path and move into healthcare. In addition to working as a dialysis technician, she is also a CNA and a phlebotomist.

Frank Burns

Gastroenterology

Frank Burns is the new administrator for the Division of Gastroenterology. He has most recently served as a Senior Financial Reimbursement Analyst with extensive experience in auditing, preparing Medicare Cost Reports, and Medicare and Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) payments. He has been with the University Hospitals & Clinics for ten years.

Frank entered the world of healthcare finance upon completion of a twenty year stint with the US Air Force, overseeing chief personnel performing maintenance on various aircraft at bases around the world. He credits his time in the armed services with giving him ample opportunity to understand government regulations and how to comply with them.Frank Burns earned an MBA from Webster University of St. Louis, MO. He also has a Bachelor of Science in management and accounting from Park University in Parkville, MO.

Originally from Georgia, Frank remains an ardent fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. He now lives in Farmington, Utah where he enjoys hiking, camping, and skiing with his family.

Nora Fino

Prior to joining the University of Utah, Nora was a Biostatistician with the Biostatistics and Design Program at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon, where she collaborated on active projects investigating the role of the gut microbiome on physical activity in older men. She also previously worked as a Biostatistician at the Wake Forest School of Medicine, where she contributed as a member of the Cancer Center and as a statistician on the SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth Study.

Nora earned her bachelor's degree in mathematics from Case Western Reserve University and her master's in biostatistics fromthe University of Michigan. Nora grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is a Steelers fan.  When she't not working she enjoys reading, staying active, and exploring Utah with her husband Peter and two collie dogs, Kevy and Olive.

Nanette Rigby

Nanette has a long history of work experience in healthcare. She has been with University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics at the Greenwood and South Jordan Heath Centers for the last 8.5 years. Prior to the U, she worked for IHC’s LDS Hospital and the Salt Lake Valley Hospitals in administration. She also coordinated CME for physicians working at LDS Hospital, Cottonwood Hospital, Alta View Hospital, Wasatch Canyon, and Primary Children’s Hospital.

Nanette is orginally from Burlington, Iowa. She loves to volunteer: she donates a lot of her timer in the community. Her greatest achievment are her happy, healthy, and successful childlren and grandchildren.

Ellie Volckman

Ellie will be joining the department as the new administrator for the Division of Oncology. She began her career in health care in 2004 in various clinical and leadership roles within Radiology.

She started at Boulder Community Hospital and has since worked at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and OhioState University Hospital; before joining University of Utah Health in 2010. Her most recent position was as Manager of Interventional Radiology and Imaging Biopsy Services where she led her team in the exponential growth and expansion of the services.Ellie is a licensed Radiology Technologist with her bachelors in Healthcare Administration. She is also currently pursuing her MBA.

Ellie is originally from Chicago. She has two children, Evelyn (6) and Emmett (4). They enjoy hiking, biking and anything else they can do to enjoy the beautiful mountains of Utah.

Chantel is joining the Heart Failure/Transplant/LVAD team. As a new physician assistant graduate, she is excited to combine her new skills from her training with her clinical experience as cardiology technician. 

She enjoys listening to live music, watching movies on the big screen, enjoying the mountains, traveling, and exploring spicy foods. She recently learned how to swing dance and enjoys practicing new steps. She is thankful to be surrounded by friends. She resides in the avenues with her  two cats Chloe and Blue.
