His love of the natural world and all its splendors drove him to pursue biological sciences so that he could gain a deeper understanding of the world.

She is a first-generation college student and the second oldest of seven children. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she was involved in a student organization called the Pacific Islander Student Organization, worked full time as a reservations supervisor at the University Guest House, and also held a leadership position within student housing.

She received her master's degree from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Utah in August of 2018. She is excited about her new role at HCH and looks forward to the year ahead.

When she's not working, she can be found taking advantage of the great outdoors: snowboarding, running, hiking, and camping.

Jennifer Knowles
Clinical Research Coordinator
Gastroenterology

Jennifer is originally from East Mesa, Arizona but moved around a bit as a teen. She graduated from Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah, and almost immediately joined the military and fell in love with healthcare. She has been a healthcare specialist/combat medic for over 10 years now and currently serves in the United States Army Reserve from Fort Douglas, Utah. In the military, she has done everything from managing the emergency department of a combat support hospital to directing the CPR program for the entire post. She now works for the Medical Readiness Training Command (MRTC) as the Brigade Training Non-Commissioned officer (NCO).

As a civilian, she began working for ARUP Laboratories in 2009. In 2013 I returned back to school for a double bachelor’s program at the U of U. She graduated in 2016 and joined the Huntsman Cancer Institute Biorepository and Molecular Pathology (BMP) team as a Laboratory Specialist. She has transitioned her regulatory skills and research background into a clinical research position with Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition.

She loves to crochet as a way to relax. She often finds herself crocheting on active duty so that she can de-stress after a rough day. She also crocheted between all of her finals in college.
