Zachary Burningham
Research Assistant Professor
Epidemiology

Dr. Burningham earned his PhD in Public Health at the University of Utah. During his graduate training, Dr. Burningham was employed at the Office of Health Care Statistics (OHCS) within the Utah Department of Health, where he led the development of the state’s Hospital Comparison Report. This is where his passion for applied informatics and health care quality improvement began to develop.

His dissertation was comprised of a case-control study examining pediatric cancer risk factors utilizing a number of diverse databases, including: the Utah Population Database (UPDB), state-wide Ambulatory Surgical Care Database, and administrative data ascertained from the University of Utah Health Sciences Center (UUHSC) and the Intermountain Health Care (IHC) data warehouse.

His research interests include the use of health information technology (HIT) in improving health outcomes by fusing quality improvement methodologies with clinical epidemiology.

He was born and raised in a rural community in Eastern Oregon. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family and prefers beaches over the mountains when he has the opportunity to get away.

James Cook
Clinical Data Manager III
Epidemiology

James is from Montgomery County, Maryland, but he has been in Utah on and off for about 10 years, since he began his undergraduate studies at BYU where he graduated in 2014 with a BS in economics. He worked in analytics for a large financial firm. He left the corporate work environment to pursue a master's degree in behavioral economics. He completed his MSc from Middlesex University London in the beginning of 2018 with his dissertation focusing on how individuals prioritize job characteristics when making job selection decisions. This background provided a nice springboard for his current position supporting health economics research.

James has many seemingly-unrelated hobbies: bonsai, photography, sewing, auto maintenance, and following F1 racing and European soccer (FC Barcelona!), just to name a few.

Janene Fontaine
Nurse Practitioner
Geriatrics

Janene was born in California but has lived in Utah her whole life. She doesn't ski, snowboard, or really do anything outside in the winter, but she loves spring and fall in Utah and that keeps her here.

She has always been passionate about healthcare and received a Bachelor's in Behavioral Sciences and a Master's Degree in Public Health at the University of Utah. She worked at the Utah Department of Health in the Bureau of Communicable Disease Control in the HIV/AIDS Ryan White Treatment & Care Program for almost ten years. She wanted to further her career and work directly with patients in clinical care, so she applied to the University of Utah Accelerated Nursing Program and received her BSN in 2011. She has also worked for the University Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI) as a Mental Health/Psychiatric nurse.

Janene is a lifelong learner: after working as a nurse for five years, she applied to Westminster's MSN/FNP program and graduated in May 2018. She is happy to begin her career as a nurse practitioner with the University of Utah. She hopes to have a lifelong career with the University of Utah.

Hannah Maciejewski
Physician Assistant
Oncology

Hannah grew up in Muskegon, Michigan before earning her bachelor's degree in child development at Central Michigan University. During that time, she also minored in science, completed PA school prerequisites, and worked as a CNA at an assisted living center.

After graduating, she took a year off to work as a nursing technician in the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital emergency department. She moved to Utah in 2016 to start PA school at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo. One of her clinical rotations was based in the ICU at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, where she cultivated her interest in the field of oncology. She graduated in August of 2018 and was very excited to accept a position on the inpatient medical oncology team at HCI. She is looking forward to working with the HCI team in the year ahead.

In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, camping, running, and spending time with her fiancé and family.
