Linday Keegan, PhD
Research Assistant Professor, Division of Epidemiology 

Lindsay is originally from Florida, and graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in both mathematics and zoology. She received her PhD from McMaster University, in biology, where she wrote her thesis on modeling the spread and control of malaria. She recently completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in epidemiology. At Johns Hopkins, Lindsay worked in the Infectious Disease Dynamics group, where she studied the spread of dengue hemorrhagic fever in Thailand and the clinical and epidemiological components that lead to diphtheria outbreaks in locations with infrastructure failure and political unrest. Lindsay is joining the Division of Epidemiology where she plans to continue integrating mathematical, statistical, and computational techniques with empirical data to understand the spread and control of infectious diseases.

When not at work, Lindsay can be found in the mountains with her husband, Greg, enjoying all manner of outdoor activities.

Nick Anderson is from Firth, Idaho, where he grew up working on a farm. He decied to go into health care in high school. After moving to Utah in 2011, he spent time working in corporate wellness and working as a technician in Endoscopy prior to PA school. He studied to be a PA at Rocky Mountain University in Provo, Utah. He has a love for salsa verde with carne asada tacos, and in his free time enjoys watching Seinfeld and other standup comedy, and spending time with his 14 nieces and nephews.

Megan has grown up in Utah and loves it here! She is a single mother of two amazing children and a new puppy.

Her career in healthcare started as a teen when she worked with adults with disabilities, and then moved into phlebotomy. She was inspired to become a nurse when her friend lost a baby to HLHS (hypoplastic left heart syndrome), and another friend's wife was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. She loves to help people and make them smile. She is grateful for the wonderful opportunity to work for the University of Utah and to help people.

Dora recently joined Internal Medicine and is the Program Manager for the Geriatrics, Hospice and Palliative Medicine and Rheumatology fellowships.

Dora’s career in healthcare has spanned 28 years and began in 1989 where she was the Event Coordinator for a small non-profit hospital in Riverside, CA for 7 years. As a former military spouse, Dora was lucky enough to establish her career in graduate medical education and find a position whenever her family was transferred. She has been a coordinator in the following specialties, Family Medicine (twice), OB/GYN, Vascular Surgery, Pediatrics, Med/Peds, Neonatology, Thoracic Surgery Urology, Radiology (twice), Anesthesiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Emergency Medicine (twice).

In her free time, Dora enjoys movies, genealogy, hiking with her son and being outdoors as much as possible.

helal mobasher

Helal Mobasher, PhD
Data Scientist

Dr. Helal Mobasher is a Data Scientist at the University of Utah Division of Epidemiology. He received his PhD in quantitative sociology from Utah State University. His passion for data analytics, specifically healthcare analytics, led him to have a long-lasting career in Healthcare. Dr. Mobasher specialties are in managing large scale data, data modeling, data integration, data visualization, and data analysis. He has recently led a team of data analysts and developers to build an analytics department at Valley Behavioral Health. His current interests are in predictive analytics and machine learning using both data science programing languages and data visualization tools with advanced technological modules.

Dr. Mobasher is from Tehran, Iran. His passions outside of work include health, exercise, and data.

Huong completed her PhD is Economics from the University of Miami. She joined the University of Utah as a Research Associate in 2016, and is now a Data Scientist at TORCH lab.

Julie is from Salt Lake City, and has been with the University of Utah for 34 years in various positions. Her background has been primarily in cancer and cancer research. She recently accepted a new position in the Department of Internal Medicine because she wanted a new challenge and to learn something different.
