COVID-19 Impacts:

Due to COVID-19 restrictions across the country, requiring manufactures to close, either all or partially, certain areas of the building will not be fully outfitted with all final furniture and equipment upon opening.

  • Furniture and Equipment items of a Non-critical to patient care nature have been delayed and final delivery dates are still TBD. (everything that is patient critical will be onsite)
  • The following areas will not be completed for the dates listed above: Seating in lounges and dining areas, Mulitpurpose rooms, some break rooms.

COVID-19 protocols and restrictions are also causing a rethink to our typical training and occupancy procedures. We will not be taking large groups of employees into the new building before the move date.

  • Information staff will need to understand to effectively navigate Neilsen Hospital will be incorporated into a CANVAS module. Dianna Anderson is leading this effort.
  • The training is being created for Nursing staff and will be active starting May 14 with 2 weeks to complete before first shift.
  • Education on Smart room technology will be filmed and videos posted on the Rehab Pulse Tile.

The following are trainings that will be included in the CANVAS module:

  1. Wayfinding: Navigating the new building. Derek Larson who works for CSE is going to create a 360 video for several areas of the hospital that is similar to real estate videos online for staff to see the new building.
  2. Smart Room Features: Smart Room features will be covered by James Darrow Gardner who is an OT on IMR that works with technology and has a large hand in designing the smart room features that our patients will be enjoying shortly. James will create a video tutorial of these features.
  3. Par Excellence: Par Excellence will be a module on CANVAS for employees to understand how to access supplies with our new hospital par excellence bins.
  4. Avigilon Video Monitors: Avigilon Video monitors will be very easy to use as this system is consistent with systems in D50 and E50, E60. Ryan Christoffersen, Kent Passey and Duncan Campbell will help with the final details and training.
  5. Guldman & Zero G Patient Lifts: The vendor trainers have travel restrictions enforce so a module in CANVAS will provide training and education for this equipment.

Mock Code - The code team of the hospital will be doing some mock codes to test timing in the last two weeks of May, and Micah Baker is leading this effort.

It’s exciting to see this building coming together, it’s going to be a unique and inspiring addition to the organization.
