Dr. Mary Beth Scholand Selected as Clinical Research Compliance Director
I am delighted to announce that Mary Beth Scholand, MD, has assumed an additional duty in the Internal Medicine leadership team as the department’s Clinical Research Compliance Director.
In this position Dr. Scholand will provide departmental clinical research compliance oversight and infrastructure to investigators and clinical research teams. She will serve as a resource to department faculty and trainees who are interested in participating in clinical research, including clinical interventional trials and observational studies involving patient contact, and need training and help navigating the federal and local regulations and guidelines. She will also work with department leaders to identify and prioritize key compliance requirements and process improvements.
Dr. Scholand is an Associate Professor in the Division of Respiratory, Critical Care, and Occupational Pulmonary Medicine and received her medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Her research and clinical interest center on interstitial lung disease. She is already serving as the Ambulatory Chief Value Officer in the Department of Internal Medicine and also the Director of the Pulmonary Medicine Clinic. Nationally, Dr. Scholand is the Vice Chair for Occupational and Environmental Health Steering Committee in the American College of Chest Physicians.
