Dr. Fuad Shihab Receives Abstract Chair Invitation
Fuad Shihab, MD, Professor in the Division of Nephrology, was recently invited by the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) to serve as the Abstract Category Chair for Transplantation: Clinical as part of the 2024 Kidney Week Education Committee. In this role, Dr. Shihab will select abstract reviewers and assign the top-scoring abstracts to oral and poster sessions.
Dr. Shihab has held numerous national leadership positions in kidney transplantation for ASN, the American Society of Transplantation (AST), the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), and UNOS/OPTN. He started the national AST-certified transplant fellowship program and organized yearly transplantation courses at the ASN and NKF meetings. He is the past president of the American Foundation for Donation and Transplantation and the Associate Editor of Clinical Transplantation.
Dr. Shihab has been active in transplant research and speaks frequently nationally. He has received multiple academic recognitions, including Who’s Who in America and America’s Top Doctor in US News and World Report, in addition to Faculty Teaching Awards from the School of Medicine.
