The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) has recognized the exceptional work of Rebecca Kim, MD, MAS, Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Kim has been awarded a prestigious Career Development Grant from the AASLD, a testament to her remarkable contributions to liver disease research and her potential for future leadership. Additionally, Dr. Kim's research has been selected for an oral presentation at the AASLD Liver Meeting, one of the foremost gatherings of hepatology experts worldwide.

As a transplant and general hepatologist, Dr. Kim specializes in caring for patients with chronic liver disease and cirrhosis and those being evaluated for or recovering from liver transplants. Her expertise and dedication to patient care, research, and education have distinguished her as a leading figure in hepatology.

Dr. Kim's career path reflects her commitment to excellence in medicine. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, she earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where she also served as Chief Medicine Resident. Following this, she pursued gastroenterology and transplant hepatology fellowships at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), further honing her expertise in liver diseases.

The AASLD Career Development Grant provides crucial funding to early-career researchers like Dr. Kim. Recipients are selected based on their research accomplishments, future potential, and dedication to advancing the understanding and treatment of liver diseases.
