Laboratory Safety

Laboratory Safety

Last month, an article published on KSL cited some accidents that have occurred in University of Utah labs due to lack of proper safety requirements being met. President Watkins has already started steps to address laboratory safety issues, including the creation of a Presidential Task Form on Laboratory Safety in August 2018.

Since the article, the University has posted an announcement mentioning that they are addressing those recommendations outlined in an October 2017 peer review.

These events are a reminder to review your own lab safety practices. The University's Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) website is a great resource to use during your review. If you need any assistance or have any questions, please contact EHS (questions@oehs.utah.edu) or the Department of Internal Medicine Research Administration Office.
