AHA Honors Dr. Tianxin Yang with Donald Seldin Lecture Award
Tianxin Yang, MD, PhD, a researcher in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Utah and Veteran Affairs Medical Center, has been awarded the prestigious Donald Seldin Lecture Award by the American Heart Association's Council on the Kidney in Cardiovascular Disease. This award is a testament to Dr. Yang's significant contributions to understanding the role of (pro)renin receptor in renal health and disease.
The Donald Seldin Lecture Award is among the highest honors bestowed by the Council. It recognizes individuals who have made substantial advances in renal physiology and pathophysiology.
Dr. Yang will deliver the award lecture during the American Heart Association's annual meeting, a joint event with the Council on the Kidney in Cardiovascular Disease and the Council on Hypertension, scheduled to be held in Chicago from September 5-8, 2024.
The recognition is significant to Dr. Yang, who has dedicated years of research to the (pro)renin receptor, a critical component in regulating renal function and blood pressure. His work has significantly advanced the understanding of how (pro)renin receptor contributes to normal kidney function and the development of hypertension and kidney disease.
Dr. Yang expressed his gratitude for the award, acknowledging the support of his colleagues, mentors, and the broader scientific community that has enabled his research. "This award means a lot to me and my team, especially given the many years of work on the role of (pro)renin receptor in renal health and disease," Dr. Yang stated. "It is an honor to have our efforts recognized by the American Heart Association, and I am excited to share our findings with fellow researchers at the upcoming meeting."
