Welcome to the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Established in 1943, we are proud to be the second largest department within the School of Medicine and one of the largest pediatric departments in the nation. Our team includes over 520 faculty members, representing a balanced and inclusive community with one of the highest numbers of tenured female faculty across the School of Medicine.
Our department is structured around 21 medical divisions and programs, each providing a comprehensive range of specialty and subspecialty pediatric services for children across the Mountain West region. We are deeply committed to advancing child health through a unique blend of clinical care, education, research, and advocacy.

University of Utah Health, in partnership with Intermountain Children’s Health has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s best children’s hospitals in all 11 pediatric specialties for 2025. This prestigious ranking includes four top 25 placements, with the hospital tied for No. 1 in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery outcomes for the third consecutive year.
