Addiction Health Services Research Conference

It is our pleasure to welcome to you the 2019 Addictions Health Services Research (AHSR) annual conference in Park City, Utah, October 16 -18, 2019. The 2019 conference is officially hosted by our Program for Addiction Research, Clinical Care, Knowledge, and Advocacy (PARCKA) within the University of Utah School of Medicine.

AHSR has been an annual conference for over a decade that brings leading clinicians, scholars, stakeholders, and community partners to share their discoveries, network with colleagues, and learn the most up-to-date research regarding how to identify, assess, and treat persons with addictions. Addiction scholars from around the world present research on a variety of domains including epidemiology, health services, big data, precision medicine, policy, modelling, implementation science, clinical trials, education, and community based participatory research.

While AHSR is geared toward addiction scholars, we are excited to provide content for trainees, clinicians, and community stakeholders. Several of the sessions will be geared toward application of research into community and clinical practices.  Others will cover the latest evidence in topics such as:

  • Screening and treatment of opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorders
  • Trends in use and misuse of novel and existing substances
  • Screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment
  • Education/community based evaluations
  • Impact on health policy on communities, patients, and providers

Continuing Medical Education (CME)/Continuing Education (CE) credits will be available for pre-conference workshops and plenary sessions.

Wednesday night, we will host “UTAH ELEVATED” a Western dinner under the stars on the resort property. Thursday and Friday include plenaries from noted dignitaries in our field and scientific sessions where up-to-date research will be presented. Thursday night a poster session will occur where trainees, faculty, and scholars will hobnob with attendees and discuss their current and future research ideas.

AHSR 2019 venue is unique, The Canyons Resort is a fabulous mountain venue a stone’s throw away from Park City, and less than 30 minutes from Salt Lake City, Utah. We have negotiated excellent hotel rates that are available both before and after the official conference dates. For the outdoor enthusiast, the region is ripe with National Parks, biking, hiking, and other outdoor activities. Daycare opportunities are available. Simply put, you won’t be bored in Park City and won’t be bored at AHSR2019.
